OnlineRadioStations.com the best place to find online radio stations

Online Radio StationsAfter getting into so many sites that say to have tons of radio stations to listen for free online, to later find out that either you have to pay to listen or is almost impossible to get to the actual play button, I discovered OnlineRadioStations.com.   I won’t lie to you, this is not a directory containing thousands of radios, but those that are actually featured, work well.  You too have the option to listen to some specific radio through Real Player or Windows Media.

Something I didn’t like much was that the site seems to be more related to make reviews of Radios that actually letting you listen to them.  The good thing is that there’s a rating system for the Radios, ranking them higher in the directory according to the user’s opinion.

In a few words, I think there are hundreds of Radio related sites, the bad thing of all of them is that you must go through a process of trial an error, until you find the Radio that works, cause many of them are down.

JukeboxAlive – listen to unknown bands online for free

JukeboxAliveJukeboxAlive is a site where you can find tons of music artists you never heard of, and listen to their songs online for free.  Not all songs from the artists are available, but those that are, are available for free.   It also has a feature for bands that want to promote their albums.  There’s a premiun account if you want to go a bit further a get some attention from JukeboxAlive.com, like appearing in their front page.

I think that the site it was created with the purpose of giving the bands a place to promote themselves.  Unless you really like to find new music on the internet, this site is yet another web 2.0 dedicated to music.  Enjoy.

Tunefeed – share your music on any website for free

TuneFeedThe main difference between Tunefeed and the rest of other online music services, is that you can actually upload your songs to the site, create a playlist and embed it or just send the link to your friends so they can listen to it in tunefeed.com.

If you live outside the United States of America, you can’t listen to songs on Tunefeed, so the service is pretty restrictive so far. However, if you embed the playlist in some other site, then you are allowed to listen to the playlist.

The songs you upload to tunefeed must go through an approval process, so they can identify to which artist they really belong to.  After that the song title and artist name get fixed, you can’t change them.

In a few words, Tunefeed is a nice option for people that have blogs, a myspace or facebook profile, so they can share their music with others.

Unsigned – listen to unsigned artists and promote your own band

Unsigned.com has become a true hub for both independent artists to those people that want to listen to new music, that otherwise would never reach a radio station, online for free.

Unsigned.comFor instance, those who are on the listener side, have a Music Player that allows you to create your own personal audio library, all of them are full and free, no more demo and trials (I tested it myself).  One of the best features is that you can see what the most played tracks on the website.  Don’t forget that artists like Colbie Caillat and Lilly Allen started promoting themselves in myspace before they became hugely popular.

Unsigned.com is currently developing a customizable profile page, both for listeners and artists, where you’ll be able to give your page the look you want.  The browse interface is very complete, allowing you to choose between genre, artist name and location.

Again, nowadays there’s a place for everything on the internet, and all the unsigned artists have found one more to promote themselves.  For the listeners, if you are tired of listening the same commercial songs made for the mass, then check out Unsigned.com , you may find many new original artists in there.

Rhapsody – the best fee-based online music service

Rhapsody LogoRhapsody is, among all the online music services that are fee-based or charge you a certain amount per download, one the best.  Why?, well, they have two types of memberships, and both and quite cheap, bearing in mind that you have unlimited access to almost any song you want to listen to.  Rhapsody To Go ($14.99/month), even gives you the chance of transferring the songs to an mp3 player (though these players are theirs as well). With Rhapsody Unlimited ($12.99/month), you can listen to all the music you want, as long as it is in your computer.

Rhapsody costs moneyBut there’s still a little secret for the Rhapsody To Go membership, each time you download a song, you must purchase it.  Yes, there’s no way you will get away with tons of songs and burn them into a CD for free, each track can be purchased for $0.89, and can only be downloaded through their software.  So the only advantage of the Rhapsody To Go is that you can transfer the songs to an mp3 player (only those that are compatible)

If you have an IPod, I have bad news, since the tracks you download from Rhapsody are not compatible with that device, they are again, ensuring that the songs do not go any further, probably because of some copyrights agreements with the record companies.

If you still want this music service for free, you can still listen up to 25 tracks per month, for free.  However, bear in mind that your computer must be located within the United States of America, otherwise it won’t let you play anything.

In a few words, Rhapsody is only for those that are addict to music, meaning, those who listen to music 24/7 non stop, so it gets cheaper than buying an album at a store.  If you don’t listen much to music, there are better options.
